Terms & Conditions

The Château is our home and you are our guests. Mutual respect, kindness and consideration will enhance your experience.

In the same spirit, we have very few “house rules” and the following detailed information is intended to be helpful with practical arrangements and letting you know what to expect at Béduer.

We wish you a wonderful stay in this beautiful setting.

Booking and payments

We normally hold online and telephone bookings for seven days pending receipt of the contract and non-‐refundable deposit, 25% of the total cost.

When you pay the deposit and we accept the booking, a contract is formed subject to these terms and conditions.

The balance is due strictly eight weeks prior to arrival (or the full amount if booked less than nine weeks from arrival). If the balance is not paid on time, your booking may be cancelled.

We accept the following methods of payment:

  • French cheque in Euros (drawn on a French bank) made payable to SCI Château de Béduer.
  • Bank transfer in Euros to Credit Agricole, Figeac, BIC AGRIFRPP812, IBAN FR76 1120 6000 8350 0004 3974 154. Please use your name as the payment reference. Please pay in Euros and reverse all bank charges to yourself.
  • UK cheque in Pounds sterling (drawn on a UK bank) made payable to Château de Béduer.
  • Bank transfer in pounds sterling to Lloyds TSB Offshore Limited, St Helier, Jersey JE4 8RG, United Kingdom, account name Château de Beduer, sort code 30-‐94-‐61, account number 01225490, SWIFTBIC LOYDJES1001, IBAN GB64 LOYD 3094 6101 2254 90. Please use your name as the payment reference. Please pay in Pounds and reverse all bank charges to yourself.

We acknowledge receipt of all payments. If you do not pay all the bank charges yourself, we reserve the right to recharge any costs that we incur.

A security deposit of €5,000 for the chateau and €500 for the houses is required on arrival. We have never had to draw on a security deposit. The deposit can be a separate French cheque, or cash. It will be returned on departure unless there is any loss or damage or charges.

About your booking

You will have exclusive use of the Château, its park, private swimming pool and gardens. If you also book La Grange, you will also have private use of the Château’s walled curtilage; if not, guests in La Grange have access to and from La Grange over the Château drive.

A regular maid service in the Château and maintenance of the grounds are included. Meals are at an extra cost. Those of your party staying in the houses do of course have access to the Château public rooms and can dine in the Château unless they prefer their own house. Bed linen is provided free of charge , however  hand ,bath and pool towels are provided at an extra cost .

Changeover day is Saturday, unless otherwise arranged. Please arrive after 4 p.m. and arrange to depart by 10 a.m. This gives our staff time to make each property spotless for the next guests. If these times are not convenient, give us as much notice as possible and we will do our best to help.

Insurance and cancellation

All guests should have travel insurance covering medical insurance and evacuation, cancellation, accidents, personal liability and loss of or damage to belongings. If you need to cancel for any reason, we are unable to make refunds and you will be reliant on your insurance. If guests are citizens of European Union countries, each person should have a European Health Insurance Card. We have never had to cancel a booking ourselves, but in the unlikely event that we have to cancel your holiday for any reason, our liability is limited to a full refund of the payments actually made by you.

Additional services and other costs

We can arrange to have you collected from airports or railway stations. Rental cars can be arranged for delivery to and collection from Béduer or from airports. We can do your personal laundry during your stay. These additional services are chargeable.

Breakfast and lunch every day and dinner six nights a week are proposed at an extra cost. We ask guests to eat out on one night a week; this gives the staff a half-day off.

Catering arrangements depend on the total number of people who will be served dinner each evening. If this is 14 or fewer (excluding children having separate “high tea”), our staff will prepare and serve continental breakfast, a light lunch and set four-‐course dinner each day. Packed lunches are available as an alternative.

On top of a service charge we only add the cost is the food itself. Our staff will, if you wish, buy this for you in the local shops and markets. There is no charge for this service. Please be prepared to pay for food as the need arises.

We are happy to adapt meals to your preferences and to prepare simpler or more sophisticated dishes or to work within a budget. A high standard is available within a budget of €10 per person per day, or €20 for a celebration meal. You are welcome to be involved in menu selection if you wish. Our staff are well-used to preparing vegetarian dishes and can accommodate some special diets; please consult us before booking.

If the total numbers for dinner exceed 14, our staff will serve breakfast and a high quality traîteur (generally a local restaurateur who also provides catering services) will provide lunch and waitress-served dinner. Breakfast and lunch will be served buffet-style.

Wine and other drinks are readily available locally, or you are welcome to buy from the owner’s cellar at cost, subject to availability.

You are welcome to invite guests to eat with you in the Château. Our staff will need to know in advance, of course, and if numbers exceed 14 for dinner, there may be an additional cost.

Other points

The Château is also available on a self-catering basis, or without staff or maid service. Our staff endeavour to be unobtrusive and to adapt to your requirements. Please feel free to let them know your preferences.

Additional overnight guests may stay with you in the Château or the houses, up to the limits in our Tariff. Please let us know so that we can prepare.

With the combustible antique wooden floors in the Château, smoking and open flames are absolutely forbidden inside the buildings, with the exception of candles at dinner and log fires in winter prepared by our staff.

The Château is furnished with many antiques and fragile and irreplaceable items. It is unsuitable for unsupervised children, and children must not be left alone in the Château.

All utilities are included. The taxe de séjour, levied by the local authority, currently €0.60 per person per night, is payable separately.

Gratuities are not required or expected.

Resolving problems

We work hard to make your stay a success. If you encounter a problem, please tell our staff as soon as possible so that they can try to solve it. We welcome your comments and suggestions for improvements. Complaints are far more difficult to resolve after you have left.

The houses (if taken in addition to the Château)

Your house will be clean and fully equipped on arrival; we ask you to leave it clean and tidy. Additional cleaning charges apply if unusual extra work is needed to prepare it for the next guests.

Considerate smokers are welcome, but for the comfort of the next guests, who may be non-‐smokers, smoking is not allowed inside the houses.

A folder in each house gives details of equipment and arrangements such as rubbish collection.

A few rules

Furnishings and equipment must not be moved between buildings, even temporarily. Inside furniture must not be used outdoors.

Children must be supervised by an adult when using the swimming pool and any play equipment.

The properties are available only for short-term or holiday use. You must not alter the buildings or their contents. Sub- letting the Château, the houses or individual rooms is not permitted. Sleeping in tents or vehicles adjacent to the property is not allowed. We do not accept pets.

The small print – for all bookings

We exclude liability for loss or damage to any belongings of or for any injury sustained to you, members of your party or guests except to the extent that such exclusion is prohibited by law.

You indemnify us against any liabilities, damages, claims, costs, losses (whether direct or indirect and including loss of profits) and expenses incurred or paid by us arising from your breach of these terms or from any negligence or wilful default by you or your party. Expenses recoverable shall include, but not be limited to, court, legal and experts’ fees incurred in advising on and initiating action to enforce these terms and in defending actions and claims initiated without regard to these terms. The right to recover such expenses shall be on an indemnity basis, subject to account being taken of any costs otherwise awarded by any order of a court.

In the event of material breach of these conditions, which (if capable of remedy) is not remedied immediately on request, we reserve the right to cancel your booking or to require you and your party to leave the property. In that event, no refund will be payable.

We and/or our agents reserve the right to enter any property at any reasonable time for reasonable cause and you must allow us and/or our agents to do so.

You undertake to keep each property and all the furniture, fixtures and effects in the same state of repair and condition as at the commencement of your stay (reasonable wear and tear excepted) and you shall pay us the cost of repair, or where repair is not possible, the value of any part of the property, furniture, fixtures, fittings and effects destroyed or so damaged as to be incapable of being restored to its previous condition. Breakages and damage must be reported as soon as possible.

You undertake not to use the property or to allow its use for any dangerous, offensive, noisy or illegal activities or to do or allow to be done anything that may be a nuisance or annoyance to us, other guests or neighbours.

No variation to these terms and conditions shall be valid unless signed by our duly appointed officer. No failure or delay of any party in enforcing any provision of these terms shall be deemed to be a waiver thereof. These terms and any associated contract shall be governed by English law.
